News feature in Technology Review, March/April 1980. I researched and wrote this feature after reading about sudden deaths among marathon runners. It was later picked up by Readers' Digest! The story described how undetected arterial occlusion gave rise in some athletes to compensatorysecondary circulation with concomitant ballooning of the artery around the occlusion, and bursting of the ballooned portion of the artery during exertion while running. Sources included several medical journals and interviews with physicians, as noted in the text. If you run, you should read this article.

At the time, I was racing and commuting on a bicycle (see photo to right). The editor-in-chief of Technology Review, John Mattill, wrote an item about my bicycle commuting, which you can read by clicking here or by clicking on the photo.
