1. Direct mail package, Dragon Systems, Inc.

Dragon NaturallyOrganized mailer, envelope, and business reply card with an offer to buy a $300-plus, sophisticated speech recognition hardware/software recording and organizing system.

The mailer and mailer envelope were designed in close cooperation with Symantec to include branding cues from the popular Act application, with which NaturallyOrganized is integrated. In addition, the Dragon product was advertised on the Symantec product catalog Web site.

About 200,000 of the direct mail packages were cold-mailed to registered Symantec Act owners, generating a creditable 1% response and approximately $25,000 margin after expenses.

2. Direct mail catalog, Inframetrics, Inc.

This is an informational mailer describing InfraCAM, a revolutionary hand-held infrared camera with a self-contained miniature cryogenic cooler. The photograph of the camera is actual size and is die-cut to fold out from the rest of the 6-panel brochure. The mailer envelope has a clear cellophane window, enabling the recipient to see the camera illustration.

3. E-mail blast, FLIR Systems, Inc.

This simply designed ASCII e-mail was sent to a list of approximately 12,000 prospective conference attendees. The "sender" was one of the Proceedings editors.
